It was about two weeks ago when one of my adult children(remain nameless) came home with a shocking statement, They were perceived as a very good Christiany person. That is statement. I was shocked. I was upset. But mostly I was set back. How could a friend say something like that. Then I got to thinking, is this a bad thing? Is it bad to been seen as a Christian today?
Some people it is a bad thing. To some Christians come across judgmental. They have an opinion and it differs from the worlds views. Because of that it is perceived as being judgmental. We also come across as being goody goody two shoes. People will accuse us of not wanting to have fun, or not wanting to do the "wild" thing. This is, can be, could be and should be very different.
We need to remember we are here to bring Christ's light into others life. We need to let go of judgement. It is not our job to judge, that is and will always be God's job. We need to have fun. No we don't have to stumble, nor sin. But we sure can have a good old time.
Christians need to learn to live in the world. It is not our job to live outside the world nor separate from this world. I am blessed with four adult children. Each one has taught me, and continue to teach me just that concept. Each one in there own right has shown me where I can judge WAY to much. I can become a stick in the mud about some movies, language, and other things that might add just a bit of fun. But most of all I don't need to be high and might Christianity.
It is important for me to shine my light into this world. I want people to be able to look at me and say I am a good Christian, not in a bad way. But in a way to say I can pray for you. I can serve you. And I most of all love you. I want to/ need to be Christ in the people around me.
I know it is important for my friends and especially my family needs to understand the same thing. It is okay to be a good Christiany person. That means people know they have Christ within, which is so important.
God wants so much for us to love the world as He loves us...
Thank you that you love us. Thank you that you love the world. But most of all thank you that you shower us with Grace. Draw us near to you. Help us be a mirror of your love to those around us. Help us be Christiany in someone's life.
