I am not a big fan of exercising. It is something I do not do on a regular bases. I am someone who would rather watch T.V. then run a marathon. For me, there are many other things I would rather do. But there is a reality. To lose weight, maintain weight, and to live a healthy life you need to workout. I need to workout.
The reality is I need to incorporate exercise into my day. But there is a little funny fact I have to share. I exercise better on vacation then at home. So this week I am in California. I am basically on vacation. Hence I have been working out. Funny I know.
What I am hoping for, actually praying for is when I get home I can be on an upswing of exercising. It is an important activity in my life. And there are many things I can do to start.
Walking is an easy place to start. You guys have heard me talk about Mrs. Dunwoody's excellence guide. Well in that particular book, which is from 1800's, suggests a vigorous 30 minute walk. Good thing to know that even back then women knew that it was important to be active. Just adding a half a hour walk a day could do quite a bit for my health. The best thing is it is easy to plan a 30 minute walk. And even if it is raining you can be out there. It is not going to kill you. (no pun intended)
As time goes on I can incorporate more running. Running should be my eventual goal. Running is a great way to lose weight, and stay active. The only bad thing about running is it can be hard on your joints. And as I get older I do think about the affects of the pounding on my body.
The other activity I really enjoy is yoga. Yoga is a type of exercise that helps me relax. It also helps to keep me centered. Yoga is also a good way of stress release, which is something I really need with three young adults in my house!
Exercise is not a great thing. It is not the first things I think in the day. But it is a necessary activity in the day for me. If I want to stay active. If I want to lose the added pounds. If I want to keep my body healthy. I have to learn to stay active and exercise. It will not kill me. It will help me.
