Father-
Thank you for this great nation, and the freedoms we behold. Thank you for the privilege to vote, write, speak, worship, and live the way You have showed us. Thank you that we are not suppressed, held down in the shackles of fear or oppression. Thank you for the freedoms we have been given.
And yet Lord, we take these freedoms for granted. We scoff at the fact that we can vote, marry whom we please, educate our families in the way we feel is necessary, express our views in any forum we can find; but most of all that we can worship the way we want. Forgive me Lord. I have taken for granted the right to vote, the right to speak my mind, the right to educate my family, but most of all the right to worship you freely. I have complained and looked down upon my friends who are different. I have judged those who do not agree. Forgive me.
You have call us all, including myself to stand united NO matter the differences. You have shown us that we need to love one another not because of our views, lifestyle, or beliefs. We are to love each other because we are human.
In my sorrow of this moment I come to You. I beg of you Lord give me understand. Give me light, and wisdom so I might show humility to those around me. That when they look at the me, and the choices I make or the words I speak they do not see me but they see You shining through. Help me to remember this is not about choice, decisions, or opinions. Help me to know in my heart this is about surviving each day as humans. Broken as I am, failing at each turn, but still trying to thrive in the words that You have given me.
As my son said this morning, We need to unit in our difference to make us a stronger nation. Help us Lord to unite. Help us to throw off the shackles of racism, sexism, judgement, and anger. Help us Lord to embrace the love of each other, the colorful differences that we bring to this word, and the innovations of our thoughts and ideas. Help us to turn to you Lord. Help us to look to You. Help us to renew this country. To stand as one united together for one greater good.
You are the one true God, the Father of the heavens and earth. Grant us your Presence. Shower us with Your love. But most importantly unite us one.
